The flowers are used in Australia as a source of nectar for honeybees.

Actually this species is a really nasty rangeland weed in Northern Queensland and Northern Territory and most efforts are directed at eradicating the trees. Fruit is effectively not consumed in Australia. I once saw annual fruit sales figures for all fruit sold and Ziziphus fruit amounted to just a half dozen cases in a year.

The majority of fruit sold in Austraia are actually Ziziphus jujuba cultivars from China and there are some commercial plantings but they are very small and supply a niche market.
