Very intriguing question indeed! In a hypothetical yet quite different as one is a living organism residing on it's host if u will, almost like a parasitic or maybe a symbiotic sense if you will. For the earth is a living and active body just as a cell in a human body. And, ultimately will die be it from a day or up to billions of years . Eventually Earth will cease being an active changing world very much like a human cell on very different scales.
