In the novel "Cross", Alex Cross's wife is murdered but prior to being murdered his wife is pregnant again. The family has two children, Damon and Jannie. Jannie is only six months old, the newest member of the Cross family. Damon is the oldest followed by Jannie and the youngest is Alex Junior. But then Maria gets murdered and dies in Alex's arms by the time he gets to the hospital.

In the following chapter, Alex Cross is left a widower but now with three children. Alex junior "Ali" is brought into the picture.

How could Alex junior have been born if the wife died while pregnant??? There is no explanation in the novel.
