In Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) there is a tea estate named Strathspey. Presumably it was named Strathspey by the original planter/owner who must have come from that part of Scotland.

Does anyone have any further information.

There must have been quite a few Scots who planted out tea in Ceylon. This would be after red rust destroyed the coffee crop in the 1860's and tea was planted in its stead.

There are other tea estates named Lauderdale, Dunsinane, Burnham Wood, Iona, to name just a few.

I spent my career in the tea industry as a taster/buyer/blender.
