I'm trying to find information on Hans Rothe born 30th May 1924.He was reported killed in action on 22nd August 1944 at Sens. I don't know what divison he was with other than he was an Unterscharfuhrer in a Waffen SS unit. I have a letter informing his family of his death dated 23rd October 1944 from field station 11094B. It's hand written and the signature has been censored although it says 'unterschrift [Kunne]SS Hauptsturmfuhrer u. Kompanie-Chef'.
Hans was not killed, however. He was captured by the Americans [probably 4th armoured division]and sent to a POW camp over there before ending up in a POW camp in England. He married an English woman and remained here unil he died in 1996.
I've done a lot of research on this and it seems very likely that Hans was attatched to Brigade 51.
