I'm new to this site and am a southerner...don't know much about the Great Lakes...visited once. Are lampreys being used as a food source? Are they any more contaminated than other marine life there?

Lampreys are consumed, and are often viewed as a delicacy in European countries back in the day , im not so sure about now - a - days. They don't look appetizing thought ! And they are parasitic;
Yes there are a lot of lampreys in many more places then just the great lakes , i mean there not even suppose to be there their an invasive species to begin with they only got there through the wel... canal thanks to humans. lol
all i know is that there not bad , but there not good. they have just over populated in that area and are now overeating some of the commercial trout in the area.
