I'd like to know more about the word "julley". In Ladakh last summer, my Ladakhi host told me that the word meant much more than "hello" - he suggested that it was also acceptable to reply to a social greeting with the word "julley" as if you were saying "I'm fine" or that it could even be used as "please" and "thank you". If anyone knows about the origin of the word and whether or not its use reflects, in any way, the culture of Ladakh, please let me know. I'm researching this for a short piece in a travel magazine that has a section on unusual languages.
