I have got Icom IC-603 radio on my boat. There is a problem with signal transmission on certain distance. Everything is ok while in the range about 500m and then signal is lost. I’ve checked antenna connection: socket and plug on both ends, checked wire resistance continuity. Please advice what else I could check before sending radio to pros. Is there any signal range amplifier that can be adjusted? Kasyan

Sounds like the radio is weak, the signal goes no further than 500m, then there is no signal at all,The electronics in older marine type radios can be repaired, but then something else could wrong with the radio after it has been repaired.(If you are 185Km out in open water during a category 2 tropical storm, would you want a repaired, used radio on the bridge, or a BRAND NEW radio on the bridge to communicate with?).............Go to www.starmarinedepot.com
