I was diagnosed with hereditary hemochromotosis 15 years ago. I have regularly donated blood and kept an eye on my iron levels.
My hematicrit levels have alway been a bit high but recently they were too low donate blood. Recent blood work indicates low iron, low Trans%Sat and low ferritin although my TIBC is normal. My TSH level is normal as well.
I am a bit concerned as to why my iron levels would drop after years of it being consistantly high and the hempchromotosis. AST, ALT GGT Bilirubin are all normal while Alkaline Phos is a tiny bit low.
Can you shed some light on other indicators to look for?
