I was chief-of-staff on COMOCEANSYSPAC (Pacicic SOSUS) and I am trying to correlate some comments in the book "Red Star Rogue" to the actual SOSUS operations at Midway in 1968. As I recall, NAVFAC Midway wasn't commissioned until Jan 1969 but that doesn't mean it could not have been "on-line" earlier. Does anyone know if lofargrams or the very slow tape recorder was operational at the time of the Golf II sinking? Many thanks...
