I want to take some small computers (netbooks) as gifts for students when I visit Santa Clara next month. Will I have a problem with customs? What specifications should I consider when buying the computers? Solid state or hard disk drives, for example?

Thank you for any help.

I don´t know if you make your trip to Cuba at this time.
For cubans people, everything helps. small notebooks is perfect to use, because now the students (and teachers) have a laboratory with computers. But a personal computer is very difficult to have.
I recomend you localize one good teacher, who is part of the head of the cosmology team in this university, his name is Rolando Cardenas Ortiz, in this email:

You must know something important, if you trate to enter computers to Cuba without any coordination with the university or official institution, you have a problem. you need make coordinations with the university, or another institution, and inclusive under this conditions maybe you have problems to enter computers. But is important your help, thanks for your interest.
At this time, and some years ago, some groups of amateur astronomers work in Cuba. under the very difficult conditions, without any official help and without any astronomy knowledge as part of the education system, except basic solar system in the primary studies, this pepople make a hard work today and in the last years.
