I understand that one of the exploits of Esfandiar was the killing of the Simrugh, but I have not been able to find any detail about this. Why did he kill the simurgh? Was there more than one simurgh? What was the result? Can anyone tell me or point me to a reasonably accessible source, preferably in English. I do not have easy access to a major library collection of Iranian sources. Thank you very much.
