I once enjoyed watching Hamp Hazelton former basketball player out of N. Texas. Hamp was 6'8" forward who could shoot the rock and defend. The Chaparrals drafted him, and at their camp he did very well,so much so that we thought he would make the team. Cliff Hagan himself said that he could really shoot the rock and was considering having Hamp on the team; however, joining the team was not in Hamp's future. We want to know why? why would coach Hagan disregard the 6'8" All- American who could have probably helped the Chaparrals? Even Cincy Powell thought he was good, especially when Hamp blocked his shot during one of those scrimmages. If I could I would like to ask coach Hagan why Hamp wasn't on the team? It would rest my mind a great deal because this young man could play the game, he just needed a good coach to coach him. There were many ball players who fell between the cracks, but this one should not have.
