Coilgun

I intend to create a sort of augmented coilgun by adding between one and four sizable coils to the barrel of a BB gun. I will use an optic sensor firing system. The idea is that the BB gun propels the ammunition using compressed air to about 600 fps, when the ammunition triggers the optic sensor, it will fire the coil which will boost the velocity of the projectile. I am planning on using two 12,000uF - 250v electrolytic capacitors linked in parallel. As for the projectile, I have not decided. Initially I wanted to simply use BBs as they are made of steel and are by design launched from a BB gun but I fear the projectile is too small to really be effected by the emp in any meaningful way so I am likely going to use 1 inch long nails. Is this project a waste of time, or might I get some results from such an idea? If it is not a good idea, why, and is there a way to make it a good idea to develop a coilgun augmented with a pneumatic system?
