I have read on one site reguarding the NDSM that if you were in the service in any of the quilfied periods, that you can wear the Medal/ ribbon without getting it put on a new DD214, is this correct?

Affected Personnel

• All active duty
• All National Guard
• All uniformed Reservists
• All discharged personnel who have not completed their minimum military committment (and subject to recall)
• All retirees subject to recall
• All mobilizable post-secondary school students in officer training programs
• All mobilizable standby military or civilian personnel
If you fall into one of the above categories you are automatically authorized the NDSM by Executive Order. No DD-214 update is required.
