Worm

I have over 10,000 scuba dives in Cozumel. Today I saw something that I can not identify nor have I ever seen before. I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. It appeared to be a worm. It was about 4 inches long in the sand. It was about 3/4 of an inch wide. The body was soft, translucent and opalescent with brownish splotches like a squid. It seemed to shimmer lots of pretty colors. It didn´t like us and buried itself in the sand one end first and then pulling the rest of it´s tubular body done under the sand. I assume it was a worm. The only other thing that it may possibly be is some kind of echinoderm because it did have a body morph like a tiny sea cucumber and buried itself in the sand like a sand dollar. But I tend to think that it was a worm. Anyone ever see something like that and know what it is?
