Primula vulgaris

I have been trying for several years to find the old-fashioned mauve primroses that were very common in my childhood. Nowadays apart from yellow primroses, the garden centres seem to stock only rather gaudily coloured primoses and primulas, bright purple or red, often with black edging and long stems. What I am looking for is mid-mauve with a pale yellow centre, compact and low growing. I have occasionaly seen them still in other people's gardens, but never in a shop. I would buy it online if I new what it was called. Someone suggested primula sibthropii, but that seems to come in a variey of pink colours. Can anyone help?
Thanks Sheila
