I have been re-wiring an mg-42 Ifound. it has a Floyed Rose (pat.) locking whammy bridge, when I put strings on it they are to close to the frets. Should I remove a spring? put a shim under the bridge?...

I have been re-wiring an mg-42 Ifound. it has a Floyed Rose (pat.) locking whammy bridge, when I put strings on it they are to close to the frets. Should I remove a spring? put a shim under the bridge? Need a suggestion please.
