Heat death of the universe

I have a very simple question, really a desire for verification. When a star dies, is that a good example of the heat death underway? I imagine it by analogy as being sort of like a closed warehouse with no windows. In the warehouse are a lot of hanging light bulbs, which of course represent stars. The burning bulbs are the only source of light and heat in the warehouse and every now and then one of them explodes like a nova, or simply burns out. Eventually there will be no more burning light bulbs in the warehouse and it will be cold and dark. Is that a fair comparison to the heat death? Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Michael R. Donohoe.
