I have a statue that is cast ceramic of Sun Yat Sen. The origional was made by Bennie Bufano. I do not know what year it was made, but I know it was made at the California Faiance Co. that was on Hearts Street in Berkely, some time before 1957. My Father, C.T. Stevens, bought the Pottery Shop from Mr. Henry Bragdon, who was the man who made all the outside tilework for the Hearst Castle at San Simeon.
My statue (or Statuette) is 18" tall, has black chinees cap with brown square button on top, black chinese Jacket w/ long sleeves, aquamarine blue chinese robe style pants, and black shoes. I cannot find this in any auction catalogue.
If you know anything about this statue I would appreciate it.
Also, My Father was a student at the college back in the 20's, and he designed the light fixtures that surround Lake Merritt, and He also helped design the Chandelier for the Grand Lake Theater.
