In response to your questions about living in Whittier AK. I am a year around residence and the information about it being dark in Whittier for the winter is not quite correct. We do not receive direct sunlight because we are in the shadow of the mountain range, but it is light outside. In the winter you can enjoy the beauty of the surround mountains covered in snow and the frozen waterfalls. Some hearty boaters with heated cabins even find it enjoyable to venture out into the sound on calm days as the sound never freezes. I run a small inn and we host activites every month such as a halloween party/murder myster, poker tournaments, comedy night and so on.
