T-33 Shooting Star

I have a friend, Warren Hausman, who told me this same story twice over the years. He and and another AF pilot were flying T33s out of Denver, some time around the Korean War era. His buddy had a flameout and could not restart. Rather than bail out in 32+ inches of snow, Warren pushed the other T33 for 180 miles to a safe landing.

One of my best friends, a former TWA captain, nicely said that was impossible and gave me the scientific reasons why.

Has anyone ever heard that story?

Yeah, I must be the only other person on the face of the earth that not only heard that story, but saw it up close and personal.

I was taking a leisurely flight when I saw this one jet pushing another. I couldn't believe my eyes so I got closer for a better look. My mask and cape were starting to get caught in the fuselage of the lead jet so I dropped my arms and dove for the deck in record time.

With my lunch break over I went back to work as a reporter for the daily planet.
