I have a UN tank with a shell constructed from 4mm plate for the heads and shell. The tank is 1.7m in diameter so it falls under the 1.8m tank minimum thickness requirements.
I am reviewing section 6.7.2.4.3 for minimum thicknesses and it states that vessels with test pressures under 2.65 barg. I am trying to apply a T7 and T11 code tanks which both have test pressures about 2.65 barg.
My questions are as follows:
1.) Is there a way I can reduce the wall thickness of this vessel to 4mm if the ASME calculations allow it?
2.) What does thickness in reference steel mean? I know reference steel is steel with tensile strength less than 370 N/mm^2, but I am not sure how they corolate?
