I have a Daf 85 and it is jumping out of automatic and going to manual with no drive. A yellow transmision warning comes up also.If I switch it of and re start it will go back to automatic but only for a short time then has the same problem.Can anyone help please.

DAF-85 truck, sounds like the valve body in the transmission is dirty, try cleaning or better yet,drain the transmission fluid, replace the transmission filter or screen with a new one, then fill the transmission with clean new fluid, dont forget to drain the torque converter in the process,...check the band adjustment on the planetary drive and retorque the clutch bands,make sure there is no metal in the old fluid when you drain the transmission,if there is, you should overhaul the transmission......

Thanks for your reply. Can I get any instructions on checking the band adjustment etc as I have never done any thing like this. Would I be better getting a dealer to do it.Where is the valve body?

The valve body is located inside the transmission, It controls the shift pattern on your truck transmission.....A Dealer would be your best bet to repair the transmission,They can diagnose and find the exact cause of the problem,then do the repairs and get you back on the road.If you tackle the job yourself, it is difficult to do, and the right tools and technical know how are needed to get it right the first time.
