I had a pair of Brown Thrasher build a nest in a bush about 4 foot off the ground. She laid 2 eggs and began to incubate. I am not sure how long she was incubateing, but more than a week. The next time I looked she was gone. I just figured she was out foraging. So I did not want to leave my scent behind for predators and didn't check the nest. After several trips to the garden to fill a biid bath and she was not on the nest, I began to wonder. I did not see the male around any more also. I checked the nest and now there were three eggs in it. Now where the third egg came from who knows. It is definitely a thrasher egg, not a cow bird egg. It has been two days and no sign of them. What could have scared them off. I hear they are great at defending their nests. Would I have scared them off cleaning the birds baths twice a day by the nest, (Approx. 2 feet from tne nest? I am just sick. Will they come back. Would a week elapse between egg laying??
