I found an aunt who was my father.s half sister. I found her on the 1901 census as a seamstress at Dr Barnado's in Barkingside Essex. She was 22 in 1901. She had been at Barkinside since 1897 and her keep was paid for by her father, who was a master Mariner, based in Cardiff. His wife took his daughter to Barkinsde (it was a couple of months before she died). I never heard about her from my father, but he was only 3 years oldat the time.

In the 1911 census I found Lilian Gray at Hoxton Hackney, so I presume she was moved from Barkingside to Hoxton. Do you have good records so that I can find more about her.

As a child she lived with her paternal grandparents in Northumberland, her mother had died before she was two and, as I said her father was away at sea.

Any help on how to proceed would be very useful.

Thank you very much,

Gwen.
