We were talking about the storm while bowhunting this past November in WI. everyone was discussing how terrible it was and i agreed. however, i seemed to be the only one who thought, 'what a bunch of idiot hunters...they deserved what they got'.
here's my rationale. all accounts (everything that i've read on the storm) talk about how suddenly the weather changed that day and the storm hit. well - wasn't the unseasonably 60 degree day on November 11 just as freaky as the sudden weather switch to cold and snow? i mean if a seasoned duck hunter sticks his head out the door in November, notices it's 60 degrees and thinks, 'shit, let's take advantage of the weather and go duck hunting', wouldn't this same seasoned hunter think, 'this is some 'effed up weather in November. sure i'll take advantage of it by going duck hunting in clothes i don't normally duck hunt in November, but seeing as this is a freak of nature weather pattern, i best take along gear that i would normally wear in November for duck hunting.' no? or am i just full of it? i buy that so many hunters got sucked into this but i don't understand how so many could be that stupid.
no disrespect to those who died or families of those who died. but seriously...if it's late November and i'm going gun hunting and it's 70 degrees out, i'm thinking, 'whoa, this is cool...i can shed some of the shit i might normally wear but i'm STILL GONNA BRING THE SHIT I'VE WORN EVERY NOVEMBER FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS WHEN I GO GUN HUNTING!'
discuss.
