I am researching an ancestor: Mabel M. Allen, b. 10/13/1864, married to David Johnson Foster who died in March 1912 while holding office as VT rep. to U.S. Congress. They had 5 children - two boys who died in infancy and three daughters, one of whom was my grandmother Mabel Foster Spinney.

In a news article written during her stay in Washington D.C., Mabel Allen Foster said she was the daughter of William Allen, a direct descendant of Ethan Allen - which doesn't exactly fit. I think it likely she descended from one of E's brothers. The family was a bookish lot, which led me to start the search with Ira.
