AbiWord

I am in the U.S. using Abiword to type and spell check in Spanish, using the U.S. International Keyboard (Windows) for the accents. When I open Abiword, it never remembers that I am working in Spanish, even though I have selected Spanish (Mexico) under TOOLS, LANGUAGE, and also checked the box to use Spanish as my DEFAULT language (and saved that). Is there any way I can get it to default to Spanish, even though I'm working on a Windows Vista machine configured in English using the U.S. International Keyboard?

Incidentally, if there other people trying to use the U.S. International Keyboard to type in a foreign language, in order to get the spell checker to work, you also have to go down to TOOLS, OPTIONS and get the Abiword menu items to display in that language, without checking the box for it to adjust according to the keyboard you are using.

Later...I think I figured one way around this which is quite simple. I make the language selection and just name a document as something (any name) I'll remember to use as a template. When opening that document, it remembers font, and the spell checking language, and that's all I really needed.
