How does one go about evaluating antique firearms? I have two Winchester rifles, one a model 1873 (i.e. Winchester '73 - "the gun that won the West") It's a 44 cal carbine with saddle ring and 20 inch barral. The other is a model 1876 45-60 with a 30 inch barrel. They were once owned by a Northern Cheyenne warrior who fought at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in Montana. They've been in my family for many, many years. I've noticed a huge range of prices when looking at advertisements of antique rifle auctions such as the Rock Island Auction Co. I'd like to get some idea of the value of my rifles and perhaps put them up for bid.
