I feel really stupid about this but can find no advice online.

I just bought a package of 165 flat tortilla rounds from which, I presume, one makes tacos.

I found them on the shelf in the bread section. When I got them home I immediately put into refrigerator.

After a week, I decided that they were drying out too much and removed them. About 5 days later I find (I think) that the mild sweetness of the flat has disappeared and there is just the very slightest taste of ??? It's not unpleasant yet it does seem funny when I eat one (raw) that if I breathe the aroma while I am chewing that there's this funny feeling which seems to go into my lungs.

I'm not worried, but I think perhaps it's the preservatives with which they're made to allow a longer shelf life.

Any ideas, please?
