ChildoftheNight
Hi,

I need help in identifying the meaning of a burning castle depicted on a 150+ year old book plate. It's coupled with a flatfish (sole) over a crescent, which research in the net is shown to be a symbol of the Surge Hill branch, Abbot Langley branch of the Solly surname, but I've found no referrence to the burning castle.

It would be interesting to know if the Solly family was involved sometime in the sack of a castle? Or were part of a family who lived in a castle that burned?

Any help would be appreciated. You can find the picture at www dot dustie dot com.

Thanks!
