Gees, I hope you have a reply by now, but in case you're still interested, it depends on what type of lights you're using. These days LED's are becoming much more the norm over the old PAR style incandescent lights. PAR64 1000W globes get to roughly 300-500degrees centigrade (sorry, Australian). So you don;t want them anywhere near anything, especially your hands, even after they've been off for a while. LED's can be pretty much mounted on cloth, although not recommended. They are always cool to touch and therefore much safer to use, plus more economical.
