I am trying to find out who owns the sporting/shooting rights at Hurst reservoir Glossop. The land is owned by United Utilities who say the shooting rights were originally owned by the Duke of Norfolk 170 years ago when the dam was built, they referred me to land registry who weren't really able to help and suggested UU should be aware of who owns the rights to shoot on their land, but it would seem not.
Other than contact the present Duke of Norfolk I am not sure where these records would be kept?
