With all the concern about GIC damaging the grid system and pipelines, I am curious to know why we haven't implemented a capacitor system to siphon off excess GIC and then simply feed it back into the grid after a geomagnetic storm passes.

My apologies if this is too basic of a question for this forum, but I have not been able to find the answer elsewhere.

This appears to be the most pertinent question ever asked in the History of Humanity. Never mind harvesting "excess", how about harvesting the whole lot?
