My Grandfather searved on HMS Liverpool in world war 2 and it was torpedoed twice resulting in the loss of around 55 lives though many were injured, it sank 2 italian ships. My Grandad survived this though at a price as he lost his best friend when they were torpedoed... he was called andrew. My Grandad went on to name his son after andrew as a mark of respect to him. I would love to hear from anyone who knows anybody or was related to anybody who knew andrew or anybody else who served on this ship.

MY DAD WAS ON THEM WHEN THEY WAS TORPEDOED TOO. HIS NAME WAS SIDNEY FRANK MANNERING AND FROM MEDWAY IN KENT.
HE WENT TO MARE ISLAND WHEN THE BOWS WERE BLOWN UP. HE IS 92 HE WAS AN ABLE SEAMAN. HE SERVED IN THE MED, SINGAPORE, MALTA, HAWAII, BUT AT MARE ISLAND HE WAS ONE OF THE LAST 100 LEFT BEHIND FOR OTHER DUTIES.

My father was on HMS Liverpool during the second world war and my mother has a few photos of their football team with trophies. Unfortunately he passed away in 1982.
