From Jersey to at least exit 15 (my exit) I notice rectangular patches of what look like test plantings of a darker variety of grass. The planting size seems to be roughly 2ft by 3ft. What makes this stand out is the fact that within these patches,
1. the grass grows faster,
2. is darker green,
3. displays little if any weed investation compared to random non-test patches.

Do you know what this is? If it is grass variety, what is it called? The generally rectangular shapes lead me to conclude these are not wild infestations but test patches.
