For what reason would an owl show up on 3 separate occasions during the daytime and perch on my wooden fence in my backyard (small townhouse backyard), near my porch... and just sit there. I had some mice in my utility room at the time. Did the owl smell them? Lived here 12 years and never saw it before. It was a small owl, looked similar to the picture of short-eared owl. I'm very puzzled. Never happened before! THANKS
