On June 27/09, I bought a Garmin 255W GPS system, in Whitecourt, AB. The system failed me 3 times on the drive from Whitecourt to Edmonton, and once while in Edmonton. The system failed twice on our drive from Edmonton to Calgary. On advice, I was told to return the system as it should not perform that poorly. We set the system to take us to 5200 Richmond Rd,Calgary, the site of a Canadian Tire store, and it failed on the way to the store.
We were told at the Return desk that there is a 7-day policy for the return of Garmin GPS systems, and after that the system must be sent to the manufacturer. The Service Manager said there was nothing he could do because he would have to "eat" the system - he wouldn't be reimbursed.
NO WHERE, and I mean NO WHERE were there any printed advisories of the seven day policy. I returned the GPS, on the 8th day. I might add that we are from New Brunswick and the GPS was purchased due to our plans to travel to a number of large US cities on our return trip to Saint John, NB. I will NEVER EVER purchase anything from Canadian Tire again. All we wanted was to exchange the unit, not get our money back. This was the last purchase that will ever be made at Canadian Tire. And I will advise anyone and everyone I know to be extremely careful in buying anything from Canadian Tire, and especially anything with the name GARMIN on it.
