When I googled Ross today, I noticed an entry for someone of that name who was old enough to be his father (although he wasn't) and was said to be married, with dates. This needs to be corrected on Google.

In addition, the article says he worked in some friends' art galleries. Actually, Ross purchased the Carfax Gallery from John Fothergill for about 400 pounds in 1901, taking over the selection of art works. While it specialized in current British artists including Sargent and Whistler, traditional artists (from Piero di Cosimo to Rodin) were also handled. The Oxford History of British Art calls the Carfax the first of the modern art galleries.

There is other detailed information (from family papers, the Bodleian Library at Oxford, the Wm. Andrews Clark Library, and other sources) on Ross in my 1969 dissertation, "The Life and Literary and Artistic Activities of Robert Baldwin Ross, 1869-1918," available from University Microfilms.
