Does anyone know where I can get further information on the European Robin?

Yesterday, we discovered a nest containing 4 little babies in one of our flower boxes.

Sadly, we awoke this morning to discover something disturbed the nest, decapitating a few of them while throwing them aside the nest. It is not clear if it was a predator or some animal attempting to play with them as it did not eat them, but mangled them.

I am so angry because I heard some noise last night when going to bed and assumed it was the male or female feeding and tending to the babies when it was probably the intruder.

Any ideas what would have done that as we live in the center of London: a mouse, fox, cat, other bird? Also, is there any way to attract the Robin to safely return and to attempt to ensure its safety as we had become accustomed to the daily singing?
