Does anyone know what color trousers the 9th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry were wearing during the Burnside Expedition to Roanoke, NC, in early 1862? Regulations called for dark blue trousers but many regiments were issued kersey blue trousers because that material was more available and cheaper than the dark blue material.
