Does anyone know anything about the legal history of Bridgwater fair? Specifically, is there a requirement for it to be allowed every year or is it just allowed on the whim of the local council? The Royal Charter was so long ago and the size and location of the fair has changed considerably since then. I wonder if the council could stop it for any good reason or even for no reason at all?
