To many, the name Eritrea might be new.It is a country in East Africa.

Unlike all colonial countries in Africa, this country was refused independence in 1950s and USA represented by Jhon Foster Dulles was the one who made this unfortunate decision.Eritrean people were demonstrating for independence and John F. Dulles responded to the people'e plea:-

"From the point of view of justice, the opinions of the Eritrean people must receive consideration. Nevertheless, the strategic interests of the United States in the Red Sea Basin and considerations of security and world peace make it necessary that the country [Eritrea] be linked with our ally, Ethiopia.
—John Foster Dulles, 1952

Because of USA's stance in that day, Eritrean people were forced to fight for their independence.Thousands lost their life in the battle, many suffered in jails, women raped and many fled the country.People were forced not to talk their own language but the Ethiopian language.Still these who were fighting for independence were termed as 'useless terrorists'.In the end they defeated the colonizers and got their independence in 1993.

But America's stance today is not different than the 1950s.The only difference now is there is no direct colonization and they can't hand Eritrea to Ethiopia. So what the previous and present government is doing is to weaken the new Eritrean state in one way or another, while encouraging the government in Ethiopia to do whatever it wishes. This includes Ethiopia's government's refusal of colonial borders of Eritrea and USA is behind that.Sanction of Eritrea, on unfounded pretext of supporting terrorists and may be more evil deeds to come.

I believe, there are millions of Americans and other nationalities in the world who believe in rule of law and justice and I would be honored if this topic be discussed in this forum.
