My daughter lived in Missoula to attend the University.I visited her for a month Nov.-Dec24,2004.While I was there,I
fell IN LOVE with the area!The people are so open minded,non
judgemental,clean conscious,but it was all the wildlife I
encountered.A ferret came to me the night it got very cold.
She was my first ferret & hopefully someday I will be able to keep one as a pet!The deer and elk were there as it got
colder,coming right up to the apartment windows,where some
people put food out for them.As far as bears,well there is a
well known video of a small bear up in someone's tree.They
had to tranquilize the poor thing,and it worked so fast,he fellout of the tree,bounced on the trampoline,landing on the
ground!The house was close enough to my daughter's apt.,we
could see the house clearly.So YES there are bears definitely within 0 miles of town!What a wonderful place!!
