I've just read about Nicolae Manolescu critisizing Paul Georgescu. First of all, Paul Georgescu was just a child when he embraced his Marxist beliefs. I don't know what he did in the 50's or 60s but it is very unlikely that he cesored good, original literature. I know for a fact from my numerous discussions with him that he thought that socialism/communism was the greatest idea of mankind. BUT, he agreed that it did not work in reality and he absolutely hated and was disgusted with the communist regime in Romania lead by the idiot Ceausescu. My discussions with him started in 1977 and ended in 1980 with my leaving Romania and moving to the USA. He was my uncle (on my mother's side of the family - my mother's first cousin) and I can tell you right now that my only regret is that I did not know this intelligent, knowledgeable, educated, genial, sincere and extremely generous man, my uncle Paul.... before 1977. I knew about him but, as an adult, I only reconnected with him in 1977. He put me in touch with Florin Mugur and Dinu Sararu to type some of their poems and novels (for Dinu Sararu I typed and re-typed "Clipa"). I also did the typing of some of his novels and then when I got bored with all that typing .... my father took over and he was doing all the typing for Paul Georgescu. I was visiting with him 2-3 times every week and had the most intelligent, enlightening discussions with him about different writers (Sadoveanu, Stancu, Preda, Caragiale, etc. etc.) I never met a more intelligent, educated, knowledgeable, erudit person in my life!!!! And, at the same tie, he looked and behaved like a normal, good friend. I know from him, from our discussions that he was just hating what was going on in Romania and he did not envisioned socialism like that. I was very surprised by his total sincerity and lack of fear when he told me all that. I guess his house was not bugged cause nothing happened after our very in-depths discussions about communism. I told him and he knew that I was totally against the regime and against communism, in general and that is why I was leaving the country.

Who are you and who has sent you a reply? I am Paul Georgescu's niece and live in the United States of America. I would like an answer from this Nicolae Manolescu whoever he is.... how does he dare to criticize my uncle... he does not even know him... besides he is dead and he can't respond and defend his actions. But I know who he was and I will defend him.
