Jesus said, " I am the bread of life, Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you cannot be my disciple". The meaning is unclear to those outside the faith. It is stated that once you exercise faith in Christ then the veil of darkness comes away and sight is restored. Again the truth of the gospel is that the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbeliever so that he cannot come to the full knowledge of the truth. The remedy requires conditional election. You must believe that God became a human being . If you confess with you mouth the lord jesus and believe in your heart that god has raised him from the dead you shall be saved. To them that believe on him god will give them power to become a son or daughter of god and inherit eternal life.
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wreatch like me I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see! Its that simple!

This is how wars start
from what I know about the man called Christ, deity or not, he wouldn't approve of anger and hate and probably not even mild name calling because such things have a way of escalating. He was very much against negativity in any form.

thanks

Hey Dawn, It needs to be understood that what one person did for humanity cannot be necessarily transferred into acts of war. That would be nothing less than “Fate”. I mean logically speaking how can I be responsible for something if I myself have not committed such an act. Am I not free to choose to do one thing over another? Do I not possess libertarian free-will? What court of law would hold you responsible for someone else crime? It is always the case when it comes to Christianity that the blame for our evils is put on the cure for our evils. It is for that very reason that the son of god came to die. " For all we like sheep have gone astray each to his own way and the punishment for our sins (of war and the like) has been laid on Christ". The father punished the son for the very acts you see being portrayed on a daily basis. This is what God intended. To bring us back into a right relationship with himself. Now because of the misuse of free-will, corruption entails. The Nazi regime is an example of such evil. The blame is on our doorstep. By allowing free will people freely decide to love their neighbor or hate their neighbor. We will all give an account on the day of judgment! You have the right idea about what Christ would approve of. What you don't understand is the nature of man. Its out of sink with God's intentions. Its contrary to his will. It moves headlong towards destruction. I suppose people may have an answer for the evils of religion. They might say, " imagine there’s no heaven, above us only sky". Show me how humanity is getting better by the day without religion. Read the newspapers. Watch the news. How is it getting any better? It continues on day after day, year after year. King Solomon was right when he wrote in the book of Ecclesiastes ' There is nothing new under the sun. All is vanity! We are lost sheep gone astray in need of a Shepard to bring us home. We cannot solve this sin problem without divine intervention. That is the reason for the cross. We need to humble ourselves and repent of our wayward lives and stop trying to blame the gospel for the evils in the world . It begins with us one by one being changed into his likeness, into the image of Christ. Then and only then will the world be changed for the better. Its that simple!

No, no, you misunderstand me. I'm NOT blaming Christianity for war. I'm not blaming Christians either. I'm saying that the practice of being mean to each other starts wars.

"you're stupid...no YOU'RE stupid"...etc

I understand the need for a moral center, something to base everyday decisions on. Religion supplies that, it is very important for the human condition but many who subscribe to even peace loving Christianity do not practice the gentleness and respect Jesus preached. They call other people stupid when those people lash out.

the 'warriors for god' concept really bothers me. I know that the bible has some things in it like that but I really can't see Jesus actually calling for such a thing. Sure, he advocated strict discipline (throw the money lenders from the temple) but he was very clear about being kind and respectful (turn the other cheek)

If we could all learn to treat attacks like the opening post to this thread with calm respect and kindness, there would be a lot less hatred in the world. Calling the obviously stupid 'stupid' belabors the point and sets a bad example. Isn't religion about setting examples? Don't Christians seek to follow the example of Jesus?

Hey Dawn, I wonder if you are not already a believer. You seem to have the heart of the gosple in mind when you talk about what Jesus would do in life's circumstances. I agree with you on the points you have made. I think christians are guilty of these mistakes all the time. I think people in general make these mistakes all the time. Christians are called to obey the gospel. This means that we are to believe that Jesus became a human being by changing from one thing ( a timeless, Devine being) to another thing ( a temporal Devine being). Once this is believed then everything else about the gospel has to follow. It must follow if he is divine then everything he said must therefore entail as truth. It would therefore follow that the eyewitness accounts during that period of time that speak about him must be true. It must then follow that the New testament reports about him must also be true. It would then be easy to see how that the written word is true. If the word is true then when it states that God loves you that must be true. When it says God loves you so much he gave his life for you then this also is true. I could go on and on. When I read it I find it rings a bell about certain things that are important to me. Questions like , 'Who am I?"; "Why am I here?"; "Is there a God?"; "Is there life after death?" "Can I know these metaphysical questions?".The thing about this religion is that its not just a religion for religion sake. Its not just living a moral life so we can just get along. It life and life eternal. Its the answer for all of lifes questions in this life and the life to come. We have all fallen from being in a right relationship with God and with our neighbor and in this world we will always have these problems because we are sinful creatures. If we come to Him and believe that He is who He says he is then He can help us live more perfectly. Someday he will remove our sinful natures and He will make all things new. Hey carlin , Your are absolutely correct about the hard work part. There remains the following or living out that lifestyle as portrayed in the new testament. There is no redemption without suffering so we get to participate in his sufferings. I am sure you are aware of this as it is evident in your reply. I remember recently reading this very theme in the first epistle of Peter.
By the way I am very impressed with a theolgian who is among the ranks of your denomenation, His name is Richard Rice and I first came accross his writings a couple of years ago when I was endevoring to understand the meaning of openness as it is portrayed in the biblical text. You know those passages of scripture concerning future contingencies, especially those dealing with future free-will actions (like the abraham /Isaac ordeal ). He was the leader back in the late seventies for beginning a discussion in the church about Open Theism. He among others have been invaluable in bringing to light biblical truths about the openness of god. These theological and philosophical debates are now at the forefront of biblical scholarship. Anyway, thanks for your words of encouragement.

Mike and Carlin, thanks you for your respect and kindness. It will surprise you to know that I am not a Christian. I wish I could be but I can't.

I live by a strict moral code based mainly on the teachings of Jesus. I believe the story of Moses. I love God passionately.

I believe the universe was intelligently designed and that God has destroyed much of life on Earth several times in order to get creatures like us, with intelligence and free will. I believe adaptation and evolution are Tools of God.

I believe that God gave mankind two gifts; life and free will. I believe He is not done with us nor are we the only examples of His Gifts and Will in this universe. When we are ready, He will reveal the Treasures he has made and we will embark on the next path He has designed for us.

I believe that the future and the success of human kind is NOT guaranteed. If we do not succeed in becoming what He wants us to be, we will be cast from His favor and likely destroyed. He will raise another species and try again on this planet.

I believe fight to be what He wants us to be is about to begin in earnest here on Earth. This fight has been played out many times across the universe. Not everyone succeeds but not because He didn't give us all the skills to win.

I believe that God wants us to be free, truly free. He made us that way. The journey is about true freedom for ALL humans and eventually all intelligent, living beings.

If you love something set it free. I KNOW God loves me because He made me free. I use this Gift from God to promote freedom. respect, kindness, and truth in every part of my life.

I've been called a heretic and told I am going to hell. I've been told I'm a fascist and that I'm taking the entire world with me.

on a personal scale:
God isn't about saving me. God is about me saving myself from all those that would deny me freedom. If that is evil, then so be it but I am happy, calm and peaceful. Sounds like heaven, doesn't it?

Dawn

Mike, I need to know more about this movement. PLEASE, I am so lonely in my beliefs. If there is a chance of finding others, I want to try. Give me a link.
Humbly yours

I dont know if it late, but there was a rumor that jesus didnt exist. this rumor was get from the conclution that was taken from the similarities between joseph and jesus from the bible.

it is said that many similarities that was taken. example : joseph has 12 brothers, jesus has 12 students; joseph sold for 20 pieces of silver, jesus sold for 30 pieces of silver; the man who sold yoseph called judah, the man who sold jesus called judas; and many more similarities.

from this fact, the conclusion that taken is : jesus dont exist

p.s. : i'm very sorry if this information makes you angry, the fact is i feel confused too about this conclusion because i am a christian
