Protestant and Catholic Christians have different views on the interpretation of Scripture. One of the founding tenants of the Protestant Reformation was the belief that individuals have the power to interpret Scripture for themselves.

Christ founded a CHURCH not CHURCHES but one church. That church is the roman catholic curch whom has two heads, one christ and the visible head the pope whose position of athority was founded in the year 32 A.D. by Jesus Christ.

The catholic church wasen't in existence when Christ set up the church. The first split happened when two elders were in dissagreement about ways to increase the membership. One held to the fact that God would add as he saw fit and the other held to creating somthing within the church to attract the general public. By adding somthing to the church to attract the general public, the church grew considerably in number, so much so that the roman government saw the political clout of the larger church and constituted combining church and state, which caused the larger church to become the roman catholic church. The smaller church that held to the princials that Christ set it up as were few in number and were persecuted even to the death of some by the roman catholic church. The true church that Jesus set up had to go underground in hiding to save their lives. the roman catholic church gathered all of the scrolls of scripture up and said the pope only would have access to the scrolls and would interpret them to the people. Meanwhile the true church kept underground with their copies of the scriptures until sometime after the reformation period where several people branched off from the catholic church to form their own churches, resulting in the many denominations in the world today, but the true church, still but a few (the little flock)still exists from the time Jesus set it up until now, and the scriptures says there will always be a remnant that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
