No but after the invasion of Kush by the Hyskos when the Egyptian rule over it was diminishing the elite among the Kush people started proclaiming themselves as gods.

After Christianity was brought to the in the sixth century BC, Islam then took over slowly from 651 BC onward when the governor of Egypt raided the region.

I would like to precaution you, religion is not islam and christianity only, but it is any believe in supernatural being, i believe there was religion in sudan as far as the beginning of man in this land, look at the cultures they have respect to the supernatural beings which they some time confuse with natural complexities, the reason is that in each and every languge in sudan there is aname given to supernatural being that is God,for example, Nuer and Dinka have their God called nhialic who has similar view with God of Jews before new testament and Bari have their God called NGun, many other tribes have the names of their gods, i believe there was stronger religions in sudan then than now.
