Depigmenting iris as dog matures

I adopted a juvenile female rez dog at about 9 months of age. She was black with brown eyes, and tentatively identified as Australian Shepard cross. Several months later, her irises have depigmented and are blue/white. Is that typical of the A.S. breed?

Everyone talks about their eyes being depigmented. No one, that I have found, says that it happens after the first birthday. Maybe it's one of those things that everyone just assumes everyone else knows...or maybe the eyes are not supposed to depigment after maturity, and I should be worried. I work with human babies, and so I know they start blue and then migrate to brown, if the genes so dictate. But do dogs do the reverse?
